Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

My wife's mother passed several years ago in Dallas. We have no will, although this is strange. There are few assets, but there was an estate which the bank is now threatening to disburse to the state. We have requested to be granted executor status, but have heard nothing from the court. How long does this process take to get moving?

Do you have an attorney? If not you need one. Without a will, probate is a mess.

If the money gets turned over to the State of Texas, the State does not keep it. But getting it released back to you is hard to do. It is definitely something you don't want to do if you can avoid it.

Look on this website and on www.avvo.com for an attorney.
