Legal Question in Business Law in Utah

Laid-off

I had started working for a small restraunt business about two weeks ago. I went into work and was told that the needed to let me go because the were not making enough money and were over employed. They told me I did a great job and if they needed another employee, I would be the first to be contacted. They said that it was nothing that I did and that it was just because I was the last one hired. They said that they would lay-off others as well. That SAME night a close friend of mine was offered a job for the same position and no one else has been fired in the last 2 business days. I was lied to and given absolutley no reason for my firing. What can I do? Are there any leagal laws broken? I will be meeting with the managers tomorrow afternoon for my final pay check and hopefully an explanation.

Re: Laid-off

The only thing you can do is file for unemployment compensation. There is no violation of law.
