website designed wrong

a made a signifigant downpayment on a webisite and now that the website is live I can see that they didn't use my template for the design of the site and demanding more payment.

I am not sure what your question is, but if you are not satisfied and they have not performed according to your contract, then they are not entitled to the money you have already paid, and definately do not pay any more.

Additionally, you would have a basis for a breach of contract suit and any direct damages stemming form that breach.
