3 day pay or quit notice

I have been served a 3 day pay or quit notice. What happens next

It depends on what you want to do. If you don't pay within the 3 days they can then file an eviction lawsuit against you on the day after the 3 days are up. If you haven't paid or vacated by the end of the 3 days and they sue you, they will also be entitled to a judgment against you for TRIPLE the rent amount for the time you're there after the 3 days have expired, plus get an order from the court to have the sheriff promptly evict you. They may also get attorney's fees and court costs and a judgment will be on your court record for many years. All that can happen within as little as a week. It may also be reported to a credit bureau.
