Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Utah

Illegal subdivision debacle

I received land as a gift that was

bought on EBay in Utah. It was

illegally subdivided by the previous

owner before it was transferred to

me. The lot is small and worthless.

The county says I can't transfer the

property to anybody or I will face

criminial charges. What are my

options?

Re: Illegal subdivision debacle

1) Sue the person that sold the property to ou to get your money back. 2) Abandon the property, do not pay taxes or do anything on it.

Re: Illegal subdivision debacle

Instead of simply abandoning the property, find out if there is not a way to transfer the property to the municipal government or state or federal government if permissable to recieve a tax break.
