Legal Question in Tax Law in Utah

X keeps claiming our children, they live w/me, no support either

I have two questions, the frist is about my X, he said he sent the divorce papers in, yet I have not recived any paper from the Courts. He keeps claiming our two children on his taxes, although they both live with me & I do not get any help or $upport from the Father. What can be done about this? And since the premature birth of my youngest son, I have not been able to work this year at all, I have a letter for a disabled exemption for taxes, can I claim these children & get any $ back even though I did not make any this year? Thank you for your time. Please let me know something A.S.A.P.

Since your divorce is not final there is apparently no temporary order about who gets to claim the children. It is something that should be in the final divorce decree. You apparently are not represented by an attorney, or you would have a temporary order of support which would give you child support and alimony. If you signed off or agreed to a decree, then that will govern the terms of your child support and for the deductions. If you have not signed off on a final decree, you should talk to a lawyer. Call Utah Legal Services if you have no money.
