My father passed and my mother is aged. She wants to give each of her children tax free money. What is the legal limit while she is still alive?

She can give $14,000 per year to each individual. However, I do not recommend that she do so without considering the consequences if she must go into a nursing home, which could be catastrophic for her. She would be better off to use a will or trust so that her estate passes after death to those whom she wants to receive it.
