Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia

Credit card collection

I bought into a timeshare last year, long story short we were lied to at the presentation about the benefits. I have been fighting with the timeshare company to void the contract, with no luck. We were encouraged to apply for their credit card to pay the down payment. They ran our credit thru and a $3000 down payment was put on the credit card. I am refusing to pay the credit card company for the down payment. I know they will ruin my credit but I'm not worried, I'm set financially. I just received an offer from the credit card company to settle for $1100, should I cut my losses and settle our do I have any legal rights not to pay?

Re: Credit card collection

Assuming that the offer is legitimate and not bogus,

and the settlement would preserve your credit, it's probably worth considering.
