Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

I have a court date set for civil claim for money in VA. from the attorneys of a credit card company .I cannot afford to pay the 7,100.00, I am responsible for debt but when I closed the card it was maxed at 6,000.00 and could not work out a payment plan to satisfy the card company I cannot survive on a 25 % reduction in wages . How do I handle this?
