Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

man wanted to buy my car so i took it over to let him see it and he asked if i had a clear title to show and i said yes so i got it and let him look at it he said his boss was bringing the cash over so i signed the title and waited. supposedly the man pulled up and he went out with the title in hand and came back in without the title said that his boss was going to get the cash and be back with it but he was going to hold the title til he paid him back. well the man never returned with the money or title to my car so i left and went home then went and got a new title the next day. now the man is calling saying that he paid me for the car and wanted the car or the money for my title back or he was going to press charges on me for taking the car yet i never received anything is this something to worry about since i signed the title is this blackmail or what is it and is this a civil matter

Sounds like a scam that could even be criminal. Tell this scamster that if he calls you again you'll report him to the police. (And, you would seem well advised to make the DMV aware of this title that you were apparently fraudulently induced to sign over in the event that it somehow is presented

to the agency for recordation as the only valid title to your vehicle.)
