Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

I received a warrant of debt on my door. I'm a stay at home mom with no income. How will they make me pay the debt?

Well, for starters, if you own a car that is worth anything, your creditor

could get a court judgment against you and then after filing some

additional paperwork with this court, send the sheriff out to your

house to seize and sell your car at auction and use any monies realized

from this sale to pay off (or at least pay down) your debt.

Furthermore, the same process might also be used against other property

that you may own (whether real or personal)that your judgment debtor might

pursue in order to get what's owed him or it on this judgment that you may have

thought that you could just ignore, thinking, perhaps, mistakenly, that you were what the law terms "judgment proof".
