warrant in debt (civil claim for money)

i just received a warrant in debt in the mail today for colortyme rent to own if i dont show for the court procedings what will happen? is this a warrant for my arrest? will they garnish my wages from work?

No, the warrant in debt is not a warrant for your arrest. Rather it's Virginia's version of a kind of civil complaint filed with the general district court, alleging that you owe someone or some entity money. But, yes, if the TV rental company succeeds in obtaining a default judgment against you because you fail to appear for the scheduled hearing, the judgment could then be subsequently enforced through the garnishment of your wages or the seizure of your bank account(s)---or both, if your judgment creditor happened to get lucky with its "enforcement/collection stick".
