Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

I was caught shoplifting it was about $50 and i have never stolen before i live in virginia will i get jail time and is there any thing i can do.so.this does not go on my record because i am trying.to join the military?

If the matter is under the jurisdiction of the Prince William County General District Court and you're convicted, you can expect to be sentenced to two days

in the local slammer, none of which will be suspended.

However, if it's other localities in NoVa and it's your first offense, you'll most likely receive all jail time suspended and probation with conditions.

As for other Virginia jurisdictions, I can't say for sure but most are likely to

follow what I've already outlined as the general practice in NoVa which

is typically followed for the disposition of a petty larceny charge.
