Drunk in public

My son is 20 years old and was drinking in a hotel room with some friends.The police arrested him and charged him with underage drinking and drinking in public. Is this legal?

Its highly dependant upon the specific facts and circumstances of the case. Generally speaking, if the police had a valid reason to have contact with your son, the underage possession and/or comsumption of alcohol charge will stand up. The drunk in public charge is more tenuous, and depends whether he was in public view before he came into police custody.
