Re: divorce

Call around to attorneys. It does not sound complicated, but attorneys fees may vary also. To give you an idea, I charge $500 for an uncontested no-fault divorce. If you do not know where your spouse lives now, there may be some additional fees for serving him by publication.

Re: divorce

I suggest you first check with your employer to determine if it offers a legal services plan. If not, call the following organizations providing pro bono legal services in Virginia (I cannot post links, but you can find each on the web):

Blue Ridge Legal Services, Inc.;

Legal Services Corporation;

Southwest Virginia Legal Aid Society;

Virginia Poverty Law Center;

If they cannot provide the service, they may at least be able to refer you to a private attorney in your area who would be willing to take your case on a pro bono basis.

You might also try the Virginia Lawyer Referral Service in Richmond, Virginia, or a bar association's lawyer referral service in your area as an information source.
