Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

My ex-boyfriend is attempting to gain custody of our children. His attorney asked him for my contact information so I could be served but my ex told him that he didn't know where I lived or how to reach me. I know this because my ex CALLED and told me he did it. I think I found his attorney's number, unfortunately, my ex will neither confirm nor deny that it's his attorney. Am I allowed to call the office and find out if they represent him?
