Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

I filed a motion to have my child support lowered due to a change of incomes. When the judge ran the numbers it was found out support was to go up based on our incomes. He handed us an order that stated "It is ordered that: Motion to amend dismissed. Child support would increase based on the parties reported income." and attached a copy of the worksheet he used to come to that conclusion.

Do I have to pay the higher amount now and sudden arrearage or will my ex have to refile to have it changed?

It would appear that the judge merely dismissed your motion to amend and that the previous support order will stand stand until it is specifically amended

based upon a refiled petition by your ex to have the issue of current

support reconsidered by the court.
