Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

My husband and I have been seperated for way over a year. I have spent well over 5000 dollars to my lawyer thus far and have only been to one meeting to discuss child support. We had agreed to joint custody of our son , but since then I have learned that my husband has been drinking and driving with my son in the car. His girlfriend has also been doing that. Our son is 13 and willing to testify to that fact. It has been two weeks since I attempted to tell my lawyer this via phone and email and have not had a response. In addition to that my husband and I have a lot of property and so fourth to divide but he continues to post pone all meetings regarding the division of property. I feel that I should have been divorced in March, but everything has been brought to a halt and I'm not sure why. Is there anything I can do to make my lawyer do her job? Do I need a lawyer to take him to court and let a judge divide up the property and make a decision on the custody?
