Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

I am moving from Virginia to Texas next month. I have a two year old son, and I need to know if I am violating any rules by taking him out of state with me. His father and I were never married, in fact, he hasn't seen or spoken to his two year old son in 18 months. We do not have any custody agreements, any visitation in place, and he is not paying chid support. Do I need to notify him at all, or can I just go ahead and move to Texas?

You should see an attorney before you do anything. Assuming there is no applicable court order, you can move without notifying him, but it could backfire on you. As he is not in the child's life, he would seem to have a very weak case to try to stop you. See an attorney.

Good luck.
