Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Re: my son has ADHD- can I give him medication without his father permission?

I have join legal custody for my son with my exhusband. My son was diagnosed with ADHD- can I give him medication without his father approval? There is no stipulation in the custody agreement with regards to administering medication. The medication is prescribed by my son's primary care doctor and he lives primaly with me and visits his father in weekends.

If the father has joint legal custody of the child, he must be consulted and his consent obtained before you administer this medication to the boy(in my opinion).
