Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

spousal support

In Virginia can spousal support be changed & lowered after a final decree is entered if the person paying support is diagnosed with a mental illness? (this person was under the care of a LCSW at time of signing agreements)

Re: spousal support

If you're suggesting that the payor of the alimony may not have been fully in charge of his mental faculties when he signed the agreement to pay alimony and that, consequently, due to that situation and possibly other considerations(his mental condition has further deteriorated along with his income?), the agreement now needs to be modified, the issue should be taken up with the attorney who represented the payor in the divorce(hopefully he had one)in order for him or her to gauge the feasibility of now bringing the issue of alimony back before the court based upon the circumstances to which you've alluded.
