Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

My wife recently received a final order from a judge regarding her child custody , granting her physical custody ,and her ex visitation with supervision. We did not use a lawyer, now her lawyer called her and said they will be appealing but we have received nothing in the mail, however today we received a letter from his lawyer stating that he had forwarded us interrogatories and request for production of documents, which we have never received. Wouldn't he have to send this through the court or at least certified mail?

Your lawyer will need to confirm that the case is still on the active docket, since there was a recent final order entered. Or you can call the clerk's office to confirm what is going on.
