Defamation

My sister has been spreading ficticous rumers to all of my relatives for years and is causing me to loose a lot of sleep aand depression. Now no one will speak to me or accept my emails .She is malicously hurting me. Can I sue her ? If so how and for what excactly

Defamation must be a false statement made with malice and you must be damaged; unless the defamation has to do with your profession or is that you committed a crime, have a disease--there are more variables depending on the state involved. In Virginia it does not sound like you have enough of an "injury" to pursue the claim.

Why, of course you could sue your harassing sister. Could you win any thing, however, that would be worth your time and expense from this suit based upon the facts which you've offered?
