Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

Gift to daughter in Virginia

I gave my daughter a car on her 18th birthday Nov.2005 that was not only her birthday gift, but I also told her it would be her christmas gift for that year and her graduation gift for when she graduated in June 2006. She lives with her mother but also goes to college now. She has had the car for over year but I never put the car in her name to save on insurance. Can I take the car back?

Re: Gift to daughter in Virginia

If the car was truly given as a gift to your daughter, she, is now legally (and morally) the owner of the vehicle rather than you, and you therefore should endorse the title over to her, accordingly (if in fact you have not already done so).
