Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

I live in Virginia and I'm receiving letters from a law firm that represents an insurance company that believes I was at fault in an accident. I was contacted by my insurance company about this several months ago, they denied the other insurance companies claim and closed it. This law firm that is in another state is threatening the possibility of a law suit unless I pay the claim. The amount they are seeking is less than $1000.00. Should I contact the law firm and tell them my side of events, try and settle with them, or should I ignore them? From what I understand, there is no police report concerning the incident and that all they have is the testimony of their policy holder.

What is your deductible on your liability policy? Your insurance company owes you a defense on liability claims, so it is likely your best approach would be to turn this over to your insurer to defend.
