Change of status help

HI

A friend when first came around 2000 to usa had a tourist visa.He changed to student visa. After he finished his study the F1 visa his visa expired and he did not change status. He is now illegal. can he change his status without going out of usa? is there any way he can get a green card or work permit? what can he do to get a status in usa?

No, in order to adjust his status, your friend will have to start anew from his home country.

Important note: If U.S. immigration officials become aware of his illegal status resulting from overstaying his student visa, your friend could be automatically barred from the U.S. for up to 10 years.
