Legal Question in Insurance Law in Virginia

accident without insurance

I recently hit a car from behind at

traffic light and there were only

minor damages. I thought my

insurance was good because my card

expired in June 09, but when I called

they said my coverage had ended the

month prior. I did not tell the other

driver or police officer who filed the

report. She sent me her medical

bills that are close to $4000 dollars.

Because I did not have insurance at

the time of the accident, am I

responsible for these bills? I bought

car insurance the day of the accident.

Re: accident without insurance

Her insurance would likely pick up the bills. However, you should consider consulting an attorney before you do anything. Good luck.
