Legal Question in Insurance Law in Virginia

SR-22 insurance

I have a friend who had full coverage insurance and then he went on deployment. during his deployment his wife stopped paying the insurance and it was cancelled. the car was financed. he came back from deployment and when he went to update his stickers and get some new insurance he found out the old company had reported him to DMV for not paying insurance and DMV suspended his license and made him file an SR-22 for the next 3 years. is there any way he could do something about this or were the companies in the right?

Re: SR-22 insurance

If it's a recent action by the DMV to place your friend in the high risk SR-22 insurance pool, he can probably appeal it and, possibly, get it reversed. However, if three or more years have elapsed since he was designated to the SR-22 pool, it's probably now too late to do anything about it.
