Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

My landlord is accusing me of violating the no-pet clause in my rental agreement after I have moved out. She wants to charge me a fee per day for two lease terms for allegedly having a pet. Can she do this without ever formally notifying me that I allegedly broke a tenant agreement rule or asking me to vacate the premises?

Sure, this landlord can do what you've described if you let her get away with it. Nevertheless, however,

she will need to have credible proof that in fact you violated your lease agreement by harboring a pet during

the timeframes allegedly involved if she ever expects to collect anything on it by way of an enforceable order

from the local general district court.
