Legal Question in Personal Injury in Virginia

Length of time for claim

I was a injured in an auto-accident as the passenger in a car in May 2004. I was out of work for 3 months, and have over $15,000 in hospital/doctor bills as a result. My lawyer has not provided much information about the status of the claim during the time since the accident. It is now almost December of 2005, and the claim has not been taken to court or settled, and I am unable to contact my lawyer directly (instead I get his secretary, who takes a message every time). I have relocated to Colorado since the accident, so I cannot go to my lawyer's office anymore. I just want to get on with my life. How much longer should I expect to wait, or should I take another course of action?

Re: Length of time for claim

Contact the Virginia State Bar, www.vsb.org and fill out the online form. I bet he won't fob off -their- call onto a secretary.

I concur in Mr. Stone's recommendation. Failure

of an attorney to communicate with a client in the manner you've described is inexcusable.
