Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

I am engaged to be married. The man I want to marry applied for a loan modification for his mortgage through the Obama stimulus program. He just began a four month trial period. If we get married will my teacher salary be counted as household income? He told me that they can pull his tax records to verify his income. Or can we file taxes separately and keep my name off the mortgage. How long will we have to wait to add me to the deed to the house? I don't want him to risk losing the loan modification if we get married. This situation is getting me down.

Not knowing all of the requirements for this particular loan modification program, I would be inclined to suggest that you might be well advised to put off the marriage until after the four month trial period has ended and your prospective spouse has qualified for this particular loan modification program.
