Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

I just got from my landlord an paper that they file with the court. It is an Summons for Unlawful Detainer. They are asking for November and December rent plus 100. Late fee and 58.24 cost. They said that the court date is set for December 13 but it look like it is set for December 27,2013. If I pay this before then do I still have to go to court and will I be remove from the apartment. I am trying to understand this because they post a paper on the door and I never got anything in the mail from them.

Yes, you need to appear in court on the scheduled date (whatever it is ) to ensure that even if you have paid ALL that is due by this date, that the case against you is properly dismissed and with nothing still due and owing on your part.
