Does VA reduce speeding amounts in court?

I received a speeding ticket of 54 in a 35 mph zone in Virginia. I live in North Carolina, and know that in traffic court here, virtually all with clean driving records can have their speeds reduced in this instance to 9 mph over and have fewer insurance points assessed. Is this the case in Lynchburg, VA? Would actually showing for court offer this reduction, or should i just pay by mail ahead of time? Or, of course, are attorneys able to likely have this ticket ''taken care of'' via any legalities I am unaware of?

Although I do not practice in Lynchburg, I can assert with some reasonable degree of certainty that by your appearing, personally, in court on the appointed day, and speaking with the prosecutor assigned to your case, that you could, in all probability, receive the mitigation in your sentence which you have referenced, which would be one more valid reason to visit that portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway not far from the environs of Lynchburg in this beautiful spring time of the year 2003, Anno Domini.
