Legal Question in Business Law in Washington

New Car Purchase

I just bought a car 5 days ago. It was a new car cash deal paid by cashier check. The dealer gave me an invoice and highlighted amount to be paid, so that is what I got from the bank and paid it and drove home. They gave me receipt along with licensing info. Now 5 days later they are telling me they made a mistake and want me to pay an additional amount plus tax on it. Is this legal ?

Re: New Car Purchase

This is not really my area of law, but I'm responding because no one else has so far.

What they are doing is probably not legal. You can probably get some help from the Consumer Protection division of the Washington State Attorney General's office.

I would recommend you let them know you are checking with the AG's office, and meanwhile, park the car in a locked garage and take the bus or get a ride until this is resolved, to discourage attempts to repossess.
