Legal Question in Technology Law in Washington

WA -- alcohol delivery business legal

Hi,

I'm wondering if it's legal to run an alcohol delivery business in Washington state. It would be an immediate delivery (customer places order and product is delivered within an hour -- like pizza). I would like customer to be able top place orders by phone or by internet.

Thanks!

Deliver of beer and wine in Washington would be legal, they can be sold in grocery stores in Washington. You would however need to have a liquor license, unless you were contracted to do the deliveries by the store that has a liquor license. You would have to perform all the age verification that a grocery store would be obligated to do. To deliver hard liquor you would have to contract with the Washington State Liquor Control Board, and I don't know of any delivery services licensed in the State of Washington.

Each state regulates this type of activity, regarding sale/delivery of alcohol. So you should engage an attorney to go through the process with you to make sure you do it correctly. Our WA member firm can assist you if you wish. It would be risky for you to do this alone.
