Legal Question in DUI Law in Washington

Question regarding DUI Warrant

My husband is currently confined at a corrections center in WA State. His release date was set for Dec 2nd and is now being told that he has a warrant in another county on the other side of the state. This warrant stems from a DUI that occured 12 years ago. He had been arrested several times in the past and never been extradited to the county where his warrant was issued. He is now being told that he wil be transferred from county to county and stay at those counties facilities until they decide to transfer him, until he finally reaches his destination. Isn't there an expiration date on warrants? And if so, can they be continuously re-issued? Please help. Thank you so much.

Re: Question regarding DUI Warrant

Unfortunately, there is no limit on the number of renewals on a warrant. The fact that the county did not extradite him before doesn't keep them from doing so now. Sorry for the bad news and the even worse situation for your husband. If you have other questions, contact me directly.
