Legal Question in International Law in Washington

Web Site Legality

Do I have to establish a company to own a web site and register its domain name ? For instance, if I register a domain as follows http://www.abcltd.com/ without having a company called ABC, Ltd. provided the web site offers free content and is not intended for profit, would that be legal ?

Re: Web Site Legality

The answer to your question depends to the applicable law.

In Europe, generally, your operation is legal. Anyway,it's necessary:

- the existence of the internet domain owner (it can be you of a your company, as you prefer);

- not to choose a domain name that can violate any right of other subjects (such as trade mark, ...;

- to respect fiscal legislation that regulate the operations you intend to do with your web site.

Your sincerely.
