Legal Question in Juvenile Dependency in Washington

My grandson,14, was allegidly charged with touching another minor child, 10, in his private area. My grandson is upset and confused. He says he doesn't know what the other boy is talking about. He says "I would never in a hundred zillion years touch someone like that. That it so gross." He goes on to say " When I babysit, I am resposiblle for that child, I would give my life to protect that child. That's my job. How can he say I did that to him? I don't understand. I never, ever touched him in that way."

My grandson goes next week to take a lie detector test and talk to detectives about this. The other boys father said he will do everything in his power to make my grandson's life miserable. That the courts will deal with him.

Should we seek an attorney? We are a low income family and have no money to speak of. My grandson is innocent.

There has not been an official charge against him, as of yet. I am hoping it doesn't go that far. How can we prove the other child has made up the story? Should we just wait and see what happens?

Any help would be appreciated.

If the lie detector is administered by the police, I would advise against it.

And DO NOT let him talk to the detectives without consulting a criminal defense attorney experienced in dealing with sex crimes.

Be proactive. DO NOT just wait and see. The money you have to spend now will be well worth it for the future of your grandson. This system is extremely unfriendly toward and biased against those who are accused of sexual misconduct.
