Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Washington

If a former homeowner replaced/fixed a roof before selling their house. Would they be responsible for paying for repairs to the new homeowner? Say if the new roof started to leak? If so how much are they liable to pay? All the cost or partial payment?

Whether you have remedy would depend on what was warranted in the sale. If the condition of the roof was warranted by the seller you would have a claim against the seller, but generally sellers don't warrant condition of the roof. The seller's defense would be that you had an opportunity to inspect. You may have a remedy against the company that put the roof on the house (if they were professionals they will typically have issued a warranty). How long ago you purchased the house would also affect your claim.
