Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Washington

My dad died and we went to the laywer to get a letter of testiment to release money she has in a bank account. The lawyer ran an add in the paper for the appropriate time and we have waited three months for any bill collectors to come calling and all her bills are paid. The problem, now the lawyer is giving me the run around--I need to make an appointment with him to get the letter of testiment, but it is like he is avoiding me. I have called him three times to make appointments only to be put off until the next week and now next week is here and all I get is an answering machine. I am sure it is because he is busy, but what do you think I should do if he continues as he is doing in this regard. We would like to get this case settled.

From your post it sounds like the attorney you are contacting represents the executor /personal representative of your father's estate. If you are not getting the information you need from that attorney, you can hire your own attorney to represent you and your interests. There are duties the executor/personal representative has to the benficiaries of an estate and if he/she or his/her lawyer has breached those duties, you can pursue legal action against him/her.
