Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Washington

In Washington State, are the parties who are named in a will notified right away, or not until after the estate has been settled? We have reason to believe we are named in a will, and person in question has been deceased for 5 weeks.

I presume you mean named as beneficiaries. The answer to your question is that they are to be notified within 20 days of the appointment of the personal representative, as set forth in RCW 11.28.237(1) at http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=11.28.237

The following tells you when the will must be filed with the court: RCW 11.20.010 at http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=11.20.010
