Legal Question in DUI Law in Wisconsin

I was told by a judge in court for a dwi that i could not have a public defender . He said I made enough to hire my own lawyer. I have many bills including a house worth less than I owe on it. I really do not have the resources to make the original down payment or any other fees. Is there any place I can get help? I was given 2 weeks to get an attorney and appear in court.

If you have a steady job and income, you will find many lawyers who are willing to set up and installment payment agreement with you on your legal fees. Just make sure that you begin this search as soon as possible, since even these lawyers are not likely to be willing to appear in court until after you have demonstrated your good faith by making a few payments. If you have financial problems, you may want to consider a lawyer who also does bankruptcy work. Over half of the home owners in America share your problem regarding your home being "under water," so you are in good company. Although it is difficult to obtain mortgage modifications, I have had several clients succeed after they improved their monthly cash flow in chapter 7 bankruptcies by getting rid of their unsecured debt such as credit cards, medical bills and payday loans. Please be aware that my responses to you in the public web forum do not make me your attorney and that I am not representing you or taking any action on your case.
