child support issues

1. do i have to settle for what is set in the order for child support or can i request a higher amount .

2. if they are only going back so far can i request that it go all the way back to the time that the mother left the child with me the biological father.

3. can i be able to file for retroactive support and how does it exactly work.

4 does the court take into consideration for what i have to pay out such as child care ,rent, groceries,etc.

5. should i or do i need to have a lawyer present at the medation hearing with me because i was told i din't need to have a lawyer present with me.

You don't mention if this is a paternity, divorce, pre-judgment or post-judgment. Usually the standards of support are presumptive and set to a percentage - if one child 17% of gross and any arrears set at usually 3% from the date of the service of the moving papers. I suggest you read Chapter 767.25 re support - latest version - it gives you info on requesting child care etc. Mediation is usually done without lawyers. You should have a family lawyer at any court hearing, however. I suggest contacting your local bar association.
