Legal Question in Family Law in Wisconsin

Moving to Australia

I recently have had interest in moving my son and myself to Australia. I am a RN and great opportunity exists for me there professionally. Also, my boyfriend lives there and we are interested in getting married and him adopting my son.

My son's father has never seen my son. He was found to be the father after requesting paternity. He has shown no interest in my son since i've became pregnant. I have sole legal custody. He is ordered to pay support 3 months ago, but I have not received any support. I am interested in having his parental rights discontinued. What are my options? Am I required to tell him I'm moving out of the country? How do I tell him if I don't know where he is living?

Please help!

Re: Moving to Australia

Whether you can relocate with the child depends on how the current Order handles placement (visitation). Normally, you have to file a motion with the Court for permission (and serve him a copy). If you can find him again, try asking him to go along with a voluntary Termination of Parental Rights. TPRs also normally come with a termination of parental obligations, such as child support, and that might be enough incentive for him to agree to a TPR.
