Legal Question in Insurance Law in Wisconsin

Auto Accident resulting in Death

My aunt was killed in an auto accident this past winter. She was stopped at an intersection and was inching out to see beyond the 10 foot snow bank on the side of the road. As she was inching out, a small school bus t-boned her and killed her instantly. The driver of the bus was not injuried. The county deemed the accident my aunt's fault. She had no insurance on the car and she has no estate. Now the other day we received a letter from the bus' insurance company stating that we owe them over $10,000 in repairs to the bus and liability. So my question is do we the family have to pay this? The accident did result in my aunt's death, even if they deemed it her fault, and she had no money left in her name. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Auto Accident resulting in Death

IF your aunt was responsible for the damages to the bus, her estate would be liable for paying the damages. If she had no estate, the claim ends because her heirs are not responsible for her actions. I am sorry for the loss of your aunt. Best wishes.
