Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Wisconsin

Hi! My sister and I recently bought a house together. We both signed the contract to purchase this home, and both of our names are on the loan for the mortgage. If one, or the other wants to sell, but the other party does not, can the one not wanting to sell the house be forced to do so?

Not immediately. However, if the parties can't agree, either may seek "Partition" of the property in the local Circuit Court. If the property cannot be divided, then the court can order the property sold and the proceeds divided, or any shortfall shared by the parties. This is litigation, and can be time consuming and expensive. Good luck!
