Legal Question in Traffic Law in Wisconsin

I have a bench warrant in Rockford. It is from a traffic ticket from over 4 years ago. I was driving on a suspended license.

I was unable to make it to court then but I now have a court date to have the bench warrant cleared.

Do I need a lawyer? Will they arrest me when I show up? I just want to plead guilty and pay the fine to get it over with.

Yes, you need a lawyer because any court might keep you after your next hearing if there is an active warrant for your arrest. You should therefore hire one in Rockford to deal with this, well ahead of any hearing dates or before you travel in IL, since you will probably be held if any law enforcement has any contact with you anywhere in that state. Experienced local lawyers can often negotiate resolutions on minor cases which will not require you to personally appear at all, but you will probably need an IL licensed lawyer for such a matter.
