Luis Macias

An experienced civil litigator, Mr. Macias has expanded his focus to include a substantial criminal defense practice. A graduate of the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, Mr. Macias served as a law clerk with the Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General, and Notes Editor for the Hastings Race and Poverty Law Journal. Following completion of his studies, Mr. Macias joined a well-known law firm in San Diego as an associate attorney where he represented public entities and insurance companies in litigation and settlement. Litigating and managing a broad array of cases, Mr. Macias handled complex matters involving high seven-figure claims as well as wrongful death and survival actions. In 2011, Mr. Macias established his own practice which includes both civil and criminal representation. Motivated by a desire to represent individuals in the court room, not insurance companies and corporations, Mr. Macias used the experience and skills gained in his civil practice to expand into criminal law. Mentored by well-known criminal defense attorney George Siddell, Mr. Macias devotes half of his practice to the representation of individuals in misdemeanor and felony matters in State and Federal court. Mr. Macias has successfully defended individuals in criminal matters ranging from elder abuse/neglect and insurance fraud, to serious and violent felonies such as sexual assault and drug trafficking. Motivated to protect the constitutional rights of his clients, Mr. Macias represents each client how he would want his family member to be represented. An active member of the community, since 2012 Mr. Macias has devoted some of his time to representing indigent clients in immigration matters, including asylum cases.
