"You cannot bake the cake and eat it too." If you want to work, you need to have a firm and determined mind. You cannot afford to be emotional and sentimental on the job all the time, and expect your boss and colleagues to sympathize with you. If you get "one" from your boss, you should be brave and bold enough to give back "two"... "tit for tat" come what may. It is only when the opposite person realizes that you are very emotional and mentally weak, he / she has a foregone conclusion that you are unfit for the job, and therefore prone to take advantage of your mental weakness. A cursory visit to a human psychologist or psychiatrist to boost your morale and wits may help.
