TAKING POSSESSION OF HIS CAR WOULD BE ILLEGAL. KINDLY PRESENT THE CHEQUE IN THE BANK, AND IF THE SAME RETURNS FOR INSUFFICIENT FUNDS IN HIS ACCOUNT THEN INITIATE 138 NI ACT PROCEEDINGS AGAINST HIM. You may also drop a detailed query at [email protected]

Dear Sir / Madam,

You should write the total amount owed by your friend to you on the blank signed cheque he has given you and encash it. If it bounces, you should file a case for "Cheque Bouncing" under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act within one month of the date of bouncing of the cheque to recover your dues.

Regards,
